MORE than 100 musicians from Mount House School in Tavistock are due to take part in the Saltash Festival, which takes place tomorrow (Friday). Last year the school came away with 13 trophies, when 55 children gave 75 performances in a range of individual categories. This year, there will be more individual performances and the school?s two choirs and 25-piece orchestra will be competing. Gill Waters, director of music at Mount House, said: ?All our pupils from pre-prep reception class onwards, have the opportunity to develop their musical talents. At Saltash, we encourage them to perform outside the school, in front of an audience, in a competitive environment, and to be inspired by the performances of others at the festival.? Saltash Music, Speech and Drama Festival includes classes for poetry, prose, recital, bible reading and drama as well as singing and instrumental music.Jim Massey, headmaster at Mount House, said: ?Mount House is attracting an increasing number of musically talented children ? Saltash is a great experience for them and we hope to be well represented at the gala concert and awards presentation at the end of the week.?
