MOUNT House School Year 5 pupils recently enjoyed craft making sessions with local felt making expert Mary Toon.

Mary explained about the different breeds of sheep and the children discovered how many different types of fleece there are. They used dyed Merino wool to create beautiful, colourful felt vessels. These will be on display at the school.

Katherine Kent, head of art at Mount House, said 'The children have learnt so much — from farming and the potential benefits of wool right through to being able to make a tangible, colourful piece of artwork that they can be proud of. This is a wonderful way to integrate stewardship, sustainability and creativity within our curriculum.'
