PUPILS from primary schools in West Devon visited Burrator Reservoir last Wednesday to take part in an Environmental Open Day.
Pupils from Princetown and Bere Alston Primary Schools were among more than 100 children at the reservoir who worked on environmental activities and learned about the countryside. Guided nature walks were organised by the South West Lakes Trust's rangers and a story-teller kept the youngsters enthralled.
Budding eleven-year-old artist Stephen McKenzie of Bere Alston School was the winner of the art competition for an accurate interpretation of a Stonefly Nymph.
Exhibitors at the environmental open day included the Burrator Fly Fishers, Tavistock and District Conservation Volunteers, Screech Owl Sanctuary, Devon Renewable Energy, Dartmoor National Park Authority, RSPB, Devon Rural Skills Trust and Devon Wildlife Trust.
