PUPILS of Mount House School maintained their exceptional record of success in examinations set by LAMDA — the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Pupils took 97 LAMDA exams, and achieved a 100% pass rate.
The achievements started when 25 pupils took part in the Plymouth Speech and Drama Festival, with Jessye Phillips gaining a first place, and Maddie Hine a second in the 10 years and under novice class. Linus Pomroy was placed second in the 7 years only humorous class, and Ella Cunningham and Ollie Piper shared third in the 11 to 14 year novice class.
In the three sets of LAMDA examinations, Mount House pupils gained four passes, 53 merits and 40 distinctions. Through the year, top marks were earned by Milly Ridgers, who was awarded 90 marks for her grade 1 in mime, Benedict Thornton-Wood, Linus Pomroy and Christoph von Wentzel, all of whom were awarded distinctions with 86 marks and Becky Manton who received 84 marks for her entry level mime exam.
Four of last term's sixth form leavers used scenes from their LAMDA work as audition pieces for part of their scholarships. Elsa Kent and Max Hayward gained scholarships to Bryanston School, and Francesca Thornton-Wood, Bethan Wesley both won scholarships to Blundell's.
