A CYCLE hire company at Sourton Down has been named by the Guardian newspaper as providing the best activity on Dartmoor. In the Guardian?s recent feature on the 100 best things to do over the summer holidays, Dartmoor was voted as best wilderness area in England by black farmer Wilfrid Emmanuel-Jones and Devon Cycle Hire was chosen as the best activity in the area. Peter Turner at Devon Cycle Hire said the company is absolutely delighted: ?I think it?s great because it?s very positive for Dartmoor and it also promotes the Granite Way as a brilliant traffic-free cycleway,? he said. He added: ?We didn?t know anything about it until a customer came in with a copy of the paper. I think we must have had a secret journalist down here.? The Guardian review is just the latest attention which Devon Cycle Hire has attracted in the national press - it has also been favourably reviewed recently by the Times, the Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph. Among the other Guardian recommendations, the Dartmoor Inn at Lydford and a holiday cottage in Drewsteignton also received praise, and letterboxing was suggested as ?a great variation on moor walking.?
