TAVISTOCK Pumas mixed hockey team produced an exhilarating performance that left the opposition feeling dejected.

Changing team format and adopting an attacking attitude it was not long before Nick Andrews, James Alford and Nick Boot-Hanford were sending crosses into the D for striker Sharon Jeffrey to start testing the opposition goalkeeper.

Scorching midfield breaks from Mathew Way and Carl Jeffrey, linking with Sue Hornby and Becky Hutton, enabled winger Nick Andrews to score a hat-trick, Nick Boot-Hanford to score a pair, Carl Jeffrey a pair and Mathew Way a single to complete the scoreline.

The defensive trio of Fiona Dunn, Becky Wallace and Rob Kirby snuffed out most of the attacks, allowing keeper Martin Osbourne to have a quiet game.

A win in the final fixture against Chudleigh on August 1 will ensure promotion to division 1.
