VISITORS to a summer flower show in West Devon have the opportunity to judge the exhibits.

Visitors to Meavy Garden Society's summer flower show on Saturday August 13 will receive a voting slip to select their personal choice of the best entry in each of the 16 classes, providing competitions for cut flowers, shrubs, pot plants, flower arrangements, herbs and vegetables. For each class there is a permanent trophy for the winner to hold for a year — members only.

To encourage members to enter more exhibits, the Gordon Cross Trophy, a memorial to a past president of the society, is awarded to the person with the most highly placed exhibits in the show.

Light refreshments are available throughout the afternoon, plants from local gardens will be on sale, and there will be a raffle.

The show takes place at Meavy Parish Hall, just across the village green from the Royal Oak Inn, from 1pm. There is free parking at the rear of the hall and entry to the show is £1 per adult. The raffle draw is at 4.15pm, and the presentation of trophies at 4.30pm.
