THE winners of the public?s vote for their favourite paintings at the Tavistock Group of Artists? exhibition this summer will receive their trophies on September 3. Visitors to the exhibition were invited to vote for two favourite paintings: one overall and one by a new member. ?Reflections of Tavistock? by Ian Pethers (pictured right) was voted the most popular. Ian is currently celebrating 40 years of painting and has been a member of TGA since 1991, as well as being an elected member of three national societies. He will be involved in the Open Studios project from September 1 to 9. The most popular painting by a new member was ?Moorland Farmhouse? by Hilda Blake-Rich, who studied art at Goldsmith?s College in London in 1950 and became an art teacher. Hilda was a director of the Celliwic Craft Centre in Callington for 21 years. Ian and Hilda will receive their awards at the first meeting in the group?s winter programme. New members are always welcome and can contact Ian on 01822 834289.
