AN application to erect illuminated pub signs within the conservation area at Lydford is being recommended for approval by Dartmoor planners, despite opposition within the village.
The Castle Inn has applied to install an illuminated free-standing pub sign and a further gold-lettered sign on the outside of the pub, which would also be lit.
Dartmoor National Park Authority planning officers have recommended consent for the application, but six letters of objection have been received by the authority.
And Lydford Parish Council has also objected. The council feels the proposals are out of keeping with an historic building in a conservation area and with the character of the village.
The application, which has been made by Heavitree Brewery, will be considered at Dartmoor National Park Authority?s planning meeting tomorrow (Friday).
