THE coffers for the Okehampton Lanterns Procession have been illuminated by a £9,500 grant from Okehampton United Charities.

The event, organised by Wren Music, is returning for 2017 after a brief hiatus. Ahead of the event, lantern making workshops run for families to attend and make their own lanterns based on the event’s theme.

Since the first event in 2012, the processions have attracted hundreds of people to attend and take part. The Okehampton United Charities grant will help fund the workshops and other aspects of the event.
