A CHARITY dinner and auction has raised a staggering £2,800 for the Children's Hospice South West.

The event, held at Jethro's Restaurant on Friday October 21, was organised by the hospice's Belstone Friends' Group.

Ninety-seven people attended the dinner, where 76 objects and promises were auctioned, most of which had been donated by local and countywide businesses, including Jethro himself. Other items were donated by businesses from as far afield as London.

Auctioneer Andrew Varney encouraged all to dig deep into their pockets to support this worthy cause.

The organisers expressed thanks to the donors and bidders for their generosity and support, as well as the restaurant staff who served and joined in with the proceedings.
