THE final total raised for a cancer charity by staff and friends of Tavistock Hospital at a Ladies? Driving Challenge last year was £2,635.

A total of 25 ladies from the hospital joined others who took part in the challenge at Westpoint in Exeter on a damp and cold Sunday to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

They had a great day out, driving a variety of different vehicles including articulated lorries, tractors, army landrovers, diggers, dumper trucks and coaches. Most people agreed the highlight was driving the police cars and fire engines with lights and sirens blaring.

The overall amount raised by the day was approximately £33,000.
