THE Tavistock Meadows Makeover got an early Christmas present when the Mount Kelly Parents’ Association raised over £1,000 for the project.

The PTA welcomed hundreds of visitors from the Tavistock community to its annual Christmas Fair.

A highlight of the fair was the raffle which was held in aid of the Tavistock Meadows Makeover project. Over £1,000 was raised to help purchase a piece of new play equipment from their wish list.

The association is a strong supporter of the initiative, as the park is such a wonderful resource for local families. Raffle prizes were generously donated by over 30 local shops and tradespeople, many of whom had stalls at the fair, providing fabulous Christmas shopping opportunities for all.

Mia Alaoui from the Meadows Makeover said: ‘I would like to say a massive thank you to the Mount Kelly Parents’ Association for the massive effort they went to this year to help raise funds for Meadows Makeover.

‘We know too well how hard it is to raise funds so to find out that they have raised a staggering £1,000 for us is just brilliant. We are looking to add three more bits of kit for the imaginary play section of the park and this will buy one piece.

‘The Christmas fair was brilliant and the grotto was the best I have seen. Thanks, a huge effort will make a massive difference to so many children.’

Another highlight of the event, for children and parents alike, was Santa’s Grotto which was based on the theme of Narnia’s Winter Wonderland.

The grotto included a magical walk-through wardrobe, and a snowy woodland forest.
