A LOCAL animal rescue centre was overjoyed when it received a large donation of £1,000.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue (MGAR) Wingletang centre was chosen as the mayor’s charity for 2016/17 by Cllr John Sheldon, former mayor of West Devon.

Niki said: ‘It was a real honour to be the mayor’s charity beneficiary and we would like to thank Cllr John Sheldon and his wife Maggie for supporting us.

‘Even though Cllr Sheldon has now moved to Dorset, he still supports MGAR as he boards his cat, Skye at Church Knowle, so we still get the chance to catch up.’
