MAY I, through your newspaper, alert the people of Tavistock to the danger we all face when the long hot summer ends?
We have numerous forest size trees all around us and the soil binding their root systems is now dust dry.
As winter approaches, should we experience high winds and heavy rain, these trees, unless heavily pruned now, may not remain standing ? with possible disastrous consequences.
I urge all such tree owners, be they private or public, to carry out heavy pruning now to allow the high winds clear space to blow through the branches.
One life lost through failure to look ahead is one life too many.
