YOUR article. 'Fund will help ethnic minorities' (September 18) is very welcome. Unfortunately, it omitted to say that the successful proposal was conceived and led by the Devon and Exeter Racial Equality Council.
The idea for the network came from three years of research with people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds into their experiences of living and working in rural Devon.
Local service providers also told us they have good intentions but little experience of engaging with people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds about their experiences in order to cater for their needs.
Whatever role they play, and to what extent they choose to play it, the award will add value to the efforts of West Devon's public bodies in helping to make a difference on the ground and the area more inclusive.
