AN AUCTION for Promises turned out to be a great success for Tavistock Friends group of Children?s Hospice South West on Thursday. Held at Tavistock Golf Club, the evening raised £3,051 for the hospices in Barnstaple and Bristol. Pat Coghill, the chairman of the group, said she was delighted with the evening which saw holidays, signed footballs from Plymouth Argyle and a car valeting offer go to the highest bidder. She said: ?I would like to thank everybody who donated promises and all those who helped to make the evening a success. The Friends will be selling their Christmas cards on behalf of the children?s charity at a stall in Tavistock Pannier Market on the first Saturday in November.
