DARTMOOR youngsters have created an exciting promenade performance of the controversial 17th century playwright John Ford, to be shown at Buckland Abbey on Saturday, September 24.
John Ford, a friend of Shakespeare, was the writer of the tragic and controversial 'Tis Pity She's a Whore.' To commemorate his turbulent lifestyle 'John Ford's Story' based on original research by cultural historian Dr Tom Greeves looks at the influence that Dartmoor had on his life and work.
The new play was made possible by a £18,500 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund's Young Roots Scheme.
Dartmoor youngsters have researched, scripted, and directed the play and will also be actors. Performances will be at 2.30pm and 7.30pm An adapted version of the play will be performed at Longstone Manor at Burrator Reservoir in partnership with Southwest Lakes Trust on September 25, at 2pm.
