AN assurance that regular users of un-developed land in Tavistock's Pixon Lane, due to be made into a formal car park in coming months, will be kept informed of developments was last week pledged during a meeting in the town. The land is currently used by cattle lorries, plus members of the scout and cub packs, squash court users, members of Kings church and the local cadet squadrons. It is owned by the town council, who are to develop a car park on the site, plus a new works depot and rentable units. Tavistock mayor Anne Johnson, during last week's meeting of the council's properties committee, said: 'I would ask that as soon as we know what is happening and what our next moves will be, that we keep community groups advised as to what's going on. They have access over this site and they need to know.' Cllr Brian Trew backed Cllr Johnson's suggestion and said it would be good to acknowledge that the council was protecting the rights of groups like the scouts, which lease land at the top of the site. Works superintendent Wayne Southall said the plans for the car park were being amended at present, to maximise the amount of car parking spaces on the site. 'As soon as we have these plans in place, that will be the time to start talking to the local users,' he said.
