ANIMAL Search UK's professional missing pet search team was called to Lamerton by Karen Amery whose two-year- old pet cat Bertie went missing at the start of April. The team of pet detectives, led by former West Midlands police officer Tom Watkins, who has more than 18 years of invest-igation experience, are fully equipped with walkie-talkies, rescue traps, torches and police style patrol vehicles to assist with their hunt for the much loved pet. Bertie's disappearance is unusual and despite his owners conducting their own publicity in the area, no news has been forthcoming. One possibility is that Bertie could have got into a van and been transported to another area, so the public have been asked to keep an eye out for him in other locations outside of the village. Mr Watkins said: 'We made sure that we had as much background as possible before we commenced our search. We've checked details about Bertie's normal routine, and his usual patterns of movement in the area. 'Our service combines systematic local enquiries (including door to door), with a thorough publicity campaign. Everybody we have spoken to has been informed of the relevant details, and left with information and photos of Bertie.' Anyone with news, information or who has a sighting of Bertie should call the Animal Search UK free confidential helpline on 0800 4320 340 and quote case ref 181466.
