THE Devon Professional Golfers' Alliance last Thursday held a fixture at Okehampton Golf Club.

The Pro-Am event was won by the home professional Simon Jefferies and his amateur partner Michael Charlesworth.

Their score of 64 was good enough to win by one stroke from professionals Martin Ruth (Torquay), Matthew Clay (Stover) and David Jeffs (Churston) with their amateur partners.

Saturday and Sunday saw the annual open foursomes event held at Okehampton and Downes Crediton Golf Clubs.

One hundred and 70 pairs competed over the two courses with the presentation of prizes taking place at Crediton this year after play on the Sunday.

Prizes are awarded for the best scratch score (without handicap), best handicap score, best mixed pair and best all male or all female pair, as well as prizes for the best scores at either Okehampton or Crediton.

The best performances from Okehampton members were Mike and Jenny Hutchinson who won the trophy for the best overall handicap score over the two days. Kevin Cornwall and Robert Darling were second in the scratch category.

Other daily prizes were won by Ray Piper and Colin Cornwall, Ray and Chris Stevens and Adam Cook and Matt Soby.
