A WEST Devon organic farm has scooped three top titles at the prestigious Taste of the West food and drink awards 2005. Eversfield Manor at Bratton Clovelly was awarded a gold medal for its organic streaky bacon range and two bronze for its organic beef sirloin steak and organic rack of lamb products. Mary Bury of Eversfield Manor said: ?We are delighted to receive such high recognition among what has been stiff competition. We pride ourselves on offering premium quality, full flavoured meat and the fact we secured these important accolades for three major product categories is very rewarding. Mark will collect his awards at a special ceremony being held in September. Eversfield Manor was one of several West Devon producers to win medals at the Taste of the West Awards. A panel of judges comprising industry experts, chefs, restaurateurs and technical specialists tasted hundreds of products during a day of tense competition at Bicton College. Browne?s Chocolates of Throwleigh scooped two gold medals for its drinking chocolate and truffles; Curworthy Cheese of Okehampton won a bronze for its Devon Oke cheese; Dartmoor Kitchen of Whiddon Down won bronzes for its raspberry and blackcurrant cheesecake and mutton pie; Devonshire Farmhouse Ice Cream Ltd of Chagford won a silver for its Guernsey clotted cream; Fishleigh Estate of Hatherleigh won a bronze for its chicken and silvers for its beef topside and lamb and mint sausages; Happy Hogs Ltd of Whiddon Down won bronze for its Faggots in gravy and Lifton Farm Shop won a bronze for its strawberry jam And Hogs Bottom Garden Delights of Tavistock, which won two bronze awards for its Devon chutney and sweet pepper and chilli vinegar has just scooped a gold award at the national Great Taste Awards for its chutney. The company, which was set up four years ago, now has a range of around 70 products which it sells to 60 outlets in Devon and Cornwall, hotels, pubs, farmers? markets and country shows.
