FROM monies raised from the profits of the Bere Pen 10k, Bere Alston Trekkers donated a trophy to the annual village plant and produce show for primary and secondary school children. 

The category is 'allotment in a flower pot.'  The award is designed to entice children to plant and grow their own garden. 

The first winner of the trophy was Erin Whetman who created a beautiful garden which included a habitat pile, pond, rockery, clothes line and a figure of herself standing in the garden.

BAT chair Dotty King said: 'This was a very well deserved reward for a clever young lady.'
