A COMMUNITY carol singalong at the Prince of Wales pub in Princetown recently was the scene for the presentation of ten cheques from the Princetown Community Fund to various local organisations.

Carnival princesses from the village — Jessica Jones, Anna Smale and Jemma Webber — presented the cheques to local firefighters (£200), village pre-school (£150) and High Moorland WI (£300).

Other groups and events to benefit were St Michael's Church Preservation Fund, Princetown United Church, Princetown Primary PTA, the Mayflower Chorus singing group, Tavy Twirlers majorettes, the Police Community Challenge walk and Princetown tug of war team. The raffle raised a further £50 for the pre-school.
