DJM U14 Plymouth Tamerton U14 1 Tavistock Town U14 2 TOWN travelled way to meet their nearest rivals in the league on Saturday and came away with a well deserved win. The first ten minutes saw Tavistock much under pressure and nervous and they were lucky not to let in a goal on several occasions including a disallowed effort! The home team used the elements effectively, if not attractively, with the high ball and put some more pressure on the Tavistock defence who dealt with the danger. At the other end Town were unlucky many times and although the opposition keeper was not overly tested the amount of shots Tavistock were generating was impressive but at halftime it remained goalless. The second half should have been a better one for Tavistock having the wind at their backs but they were unable to 'get out of the traps.' This cost them and Tamerton took the lead. Tavistock spent the last 20 minutes camped in the Tamerton penalty area and excellent runs from Mayne and Alford kept Tamerton on their toes. Lockley came on for Thompson and showed good touches before giving Thompson another chance with 10 minutes to go — this he took with a vengence and heaped even more pressure on the opposition. This pressure led to Ayres hit perfectly to open Tavistock's account. This gave Tavy even more belief and with Waring, Alford and Mayne supplying the crosses it wasn't long before Thompson battled through to get a deflection allowing Pridham to grab the winner. Man of match for Tavistock Town was Mayne.
