THE last duty of Tavistock Lions Club president Lyn Roberts was to present fellow members David Inman and Stuart Doidge with certificates commemorating their being made life members of the Lions. Both men were founder members of the club, formed in 1976 with a nucleus of people working for the then West Devon District Council. The honour was bestowed upon them by Lions International in the USA following the recommendation from the local club as a reward for 30 years? outstanding service to the club and community. Lyn went on to hand the chain of office to incoming president Keith Penney who thanked her for her sterling work over the last year. Keith said he was looking forward to the next 12 months and was pleased to be working with Lions members Vicky Holloway, George Nash and Richard Hamer who were taking office for the first time as secretary, treasurer and community services chairman respectively. Other officers include Jeff Lea as vice-president, Frank Birch as membership chairman, Angela Hill as social organiser, John Noblet as health and safety officer and Steve Grummitt as press officer.
