?PRIDE and passion? have been highlighted in a performance assessment of Dartmoor National Park, which was undertaken during a peer review carried in October last year. The final report of the assessment was published in late November. The overall view of Dartmoor National Park Authority was that it showed strengths in its sense of pride and passion for the park. Nick Atkinson, the National Park officer, said: ?The authority members and staff were very pleased with the comments of the review team, related to practical achievement on the ground, partnership working and commitment to Dartmoor and its purposes as a National Park.? The report revealed the park has enthusiastic, experienced and committed staff, financial management systems, it focuses on the achievement of National Park purposes and developing partnership working. No weak areas were identified by the review process ? but areas where improved performance would assist Dartmoor National Park Authority in achieving greater outcomes were highlighted. These improvements, which relate largely to internal organisational processes, are now the subject of an improvement plan which will be monitored by the Audit Commission. The National Park Authorities Performance Assessment team?s final report, along with Dartmoor National Park Authority?s Corporate Improvement Action Plan is now available on the Dartmoor Authority?s website, http://www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk">www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk
