Tavistock Ladies 0
Mannamead Seconds 2
MANNAMEAD made some strong attacking play and Tavistock could not seem to find a gap in the opposition.
The first goal came early in the first half as Mannamead broke through the midfield and crossed the ball into the D for a strong shot.
Tavistock sat heavy in defence and Babs Horton, Emma Bowden and Kath Collar made some timely tackles, which allowed the ball to be used more effectively by Sue Cork and Lisa Hogan.
At half-time, Tavistock realised that in order to secure even a draw they were all going to have to give extra effort.
Susannah Harland and Sue Hornby worked well to prevent the opposition from passing the ball effectively among their own team players.
Captain Fiona Dunn decided Tavistock were going to have to go for it and make more of an impact in the attacking style of play.
Dunn and Bowden had numerous good runs up the pitch and dodged round players enabling them to cross the ball into the D.
Unfortunately, the defence of Mannamead were good and the forwards of Tavistock just could not seem to find their aim.
The final goal was awarded to Mannamead as the ball was kicked out by keeper, Rebecca Creasy, but, due to her mis-timing her actions, rolled back into the net.
The pressure is now on for Tavistock to win their final two games in order to prevent relegation.
Tavistock: Rebecca Creasy, Fiona Dunn (captain), Babs Horton, Sue Hornby, Susannah Harland, Kath Collar, Emma Bowden, Sandra Collar, Becky Hutton, Lisa Hogan, Judy Smallacombe, Sue Cork.
Player of the match: Sue Hornby.
This week Tavistock are away to Dartmouth.
