TWO members from Tavistock Ladies' Gardening Club have been recognised for their ongoing contributions to the club and were presented with garden vouchers and bouquets at their annual meeting in February.
Joan Hodge has acted as chairman since the 1990s and has been instrumental in organising relevant speakers to visit the club. During her time as chairman, she invited botanists, explorers and plantsmen and women — many of whom had travelled extensively and were willing to share their acquired knowledge — including a Chelsea Flower Show exhibitor and a Japanese lady trained in oriental flower arrangements.
Mrs Hodge has received an accolade for her contributions, as the club wanted to express their sincerest thanks for her consistent dedication.
At the same meeting, Heather Thomas was also recognised for her invaluable commitment to the club in both capacity as coach-trip organiser and latterly, vice chairman and her accountancy skills.
Frances Stephens, current vice chairman of the club said: 'Both these ladies deserve the most grateful thanks for their years of dedication to the Tavistock ladies gardening club'.
