Tavistock v Bovey Tracey

TAVISTOCK captain Dave Manning won the toss and put Bovey Tracey in to bat.

Early wickets from Steve Nicholson (2 for 56) and one from Andy Gauler (3 for 60) saw Bovey struggling at 30 for 3 after 19 overs. But a partnership of 117 between Chris Bradley and Jude Rawsen took them to 147 for 4 after 40 overs. In the last 10 overs Bovey put on a further 69 runs to end on 216 for 5.

Andy Kaitiff and John McGahey set off to reach this target but Kaitiff was bowled on his fourth ball by Rawsen. This brought young Will Simpson, who made his maiden century the week before at Tavistock?s vice chairman?s match, to the crease.

McGahey (23) and Simpson (17) put on 48 for the second wicket, McGahey followed him back to the pavilion four balls later.

Steve Luffman (49) and Dave Manning (29) had a partnership of 72 before Manning was stumped off Bradley (2 for 33). Wickets then fell regularly and Andy Gauler and Roger Whittingham blocked out the remaining three overs for Tavistock to end on 167 for 9.

This takes them to third in the league and unlikely to get promotion to the premier division.
