WORKS staff who have transformed several areas of land owned by Tavistock Town Council were praised for their efforts at last week?s meeting of the properties committee. Cllr Ted Sherrell paid tribute to works superintendent Wayne Southall and his team, who have transformed the small area of land near Stannary Bridge, known as Tavy Gardens. He said: ?I would like to congratulate the staff ? they have got that area looking extremely nice now.? Cllr Sherrell said now the area was looking so good, it would be nice if it was used more, particularly by children at St Rumon?s Infants School, who had contacted the council about the area in the past. ?I wonder if we might write to St Rumon?s, inviting them on a nice day, if they want some sort of outdoor activity, to go along there and use it,? he said.
