A POWER cut briefly plunged Tavistock into chaos last Friday morning affecting more than 8,000 people.

A spokesperson for Western Power Distribution said 8,700 customers were affected by the power cut at 10.11am.

More than 7.400 people had their electricity supply restored after five minutes, and the remaining customers were restored at 10.23am.

The spokesperson said the cut was caused by a ?transient fault? which they would be monitoring in the future.
