BELSTONE failed to take advantage of Newton Abbot Post Office's nine-man team in their latest South Devon League division two game on Sunday.
In a low scoring match Belstone were in serious trouble after 16 overs at 39 for 7. Fraser Willis (26) and Terry Jeal (17 not out) then put on 32 runs for the eighth wicket, but the home team were all out for 98 with ten of their forty overs unused.
Newton Abbot looked to be cruising to victory as Fletcher (45) and Gilding (10) put on 55 for the first wicket before they slumped to 85 for 7 thanks to good spells by Chris Gomersall (3 for 23) and Rob Sandercock (3 for 19).
Effective last men Harrington and Funnel then scraped the 14 runs needed for victory just before the rain arrived.
Cup action tonight (Thursday) as Belstone take on Brentor at Rew Meadow in the semi finals of the Lancaster Cup, followed on Saturday by a home friendly against Exeter CC Third XI and on Sunday by an away League game against Shaldon.
