Tavistock A 2
Dart 2
A good spirited, end to end game was played in glorious sunshine on Saturday. Both sides started the game in a positive frame of mind and the attacking game was established from the outset.
Tavistock were playing their short passing game and this week it was done with more speed and precision than the previous games. Dart had a more direct approach and used the speed of the young forwards to attack the Tavistock defence.
The home side started positively and were controlling the game for the opening period. The visitors broke through the midfield and a fine shot was hammered into the Tavistock goal to give Dart the lead.
This did not dampen Tavistock's spirits and they continued to play their own game and were controlling the game from the centre midfield of Edwards and Aveyard, through to the outside players of Kelly and Honey, who continued to look dangerous.
The solid defence of Lethbridge, Costello and Mills allowed the solid build up of the home sides attack and Tavistock were soon back on equal terms after a timely shot by the free running Andrews raised the spirits. Andrews was very much the hunter and nearly scored again after a couple of minutes.
The half time talk brought the game to a crossroads and the tempo continued with Tavistock feeling they could take the game. Dart again took the lead after some heavy pressure created some panic in defence.
Tavistock composed themselves and with some fine goal keeping skills by Roberts enabled a break up the pitch and a panicked Dart defence failed to clear a ball, which was intercepted by Honey and passed square to Vinson at the top of the D, who rightly powered the ball under the diving keeper.
Tavistock kept all the possession in the Dart half but the winning goal was not to be as the Tavistock attack just could not get it right and convert on all the advantage. Next week Tavistock A travel to United Services.

A WELL balanced encounter in some rare autumn Tavistock sun saw the home side make good use of the early play - although at times they did encounter some heavy traffic in the middle of the pitch.
The defence was solid with good cover play being provided by all when the rare mistake did occur. Interceptions were taken full advantage of and long passes up to the forward line alleviated the immediate pressure and provided opportunity to regroup and take stock of the situation. When the midfield was called upon to do the necessary they responded well making timely tackles and marking the danger where it prevailed.
Good play lead to the pressure that allowed the build up to the first goal with Curnow getting his second of the season.
Unfortunately more goals were not forthcoming, although the Tavistock goal was rarely under any real threat. It was a game played in a great spirit.

TWO early short corners from careless mistakes lead to the home side being two down andt was always going to be an up hill struggle for them from then onwards. Another goal was added before half time to increase the deficit.
The Plymouth side built their attacks by finding unmarked players in the middle of the pitch and on the flanks to expose the rearguard of the Tavistock team which lead to four more goals being conceded.
Tavistock continued to battle throughout and some useful moves were put together in the deteriorating weather. This lead to pressure being exerted on the Plymouth goal when the fresh legs of stalwart left-half Ross scored a consolation goal.
