IN reply to Mr Hunter (Letters, December 4): Do you remember, or wold you rather forget 'Black Wednesday' when this country lost billions of pounds on the foreign exchanges?
When interest rates rocketed to 15% and when thousands of people had their homes repossessed as a result?
When unemployment rose to three million-plus and when a very embarrassed Norman Lamont appeared on TV to apologise for the disaster?
And do you remember one of his chief advisers — a certain Mr D Cameron?
I have just returned from the EU parliament in Brussels, where opinion is very positive to Gordon Brown's policy regarding the recession, and where more and more countries are following his example.
Finally, Mr Hunter, I wish you a happy Christmas with goodwill to all men.
