DRESSED to impress in Tavistock last Wednesday were staff and volunteers of children?s charity CHICKS, based in Brentor. The group donned dresses and a suit, supplied by Perfect and Elegant, to promote the charity?s Black Tie fundraiser ?Moonstones and Magic?, on November 16 at Plymouth?s Treasury Bar. Nicola Bean, event organiser, said the event has been made extra special by the support of local businesses. She said: ?We contacted several local businesses for support with the evening and the response has been overwhelming. CHICKS relies on this kind of support in order to carry on our work with disadvantaged children, so thank you to all who have donated to the auction and prize draw.? Prizes donated include a meal for two at the Bedford Hotel in Tavistock, an overnight stay in the Hotel Astor Bridal Suite donated by Plymouth businessman and hotel owner Joseph Louei, and a meal for two at Rick Stein?s famous restaurant in Padstow. Other prizes available on the night include a set of signed Kate Winslet DVDs and a visit to the filming of series six of Shameless. Ticket price for the evening is £35 and includes a champagne reception, live swing music, up close magic, a charity casino, and a luxury hot buffet. The proceeds from ?Moonstones and Magic? will go to help CHICKS provide disadvantaged children from across the UK with free respite breaks.
