THE ladies of Tavistock Golf Club held their first open meeting of the year on Tuesday July 3.
The three-ball better ball open proved to be a popular and successful event, and results were:
1, Marjorie Greening, Grace Tucker and Frances Callard, Tavistock 82 points; 2, Veronika Haydon-Foster, Staddon Heights, Wendy Wroe and Jill Hill, Tavistock, 76; 3, Jo Roach, Pauline Sage and Debbie Harris, Teignmouth and Fingle Glen, 76; 4, Lyn Alderman, Margo Angel and Joan Lobb, Tavistock, 76; 5, Gill Down, Bude, Jill Durling, Holsworthy, Belinda McSherry, Yelverton, 75; 6, Jill Peake, Vera Bennett and Jenny Dunbar, Looe, 75; 7, Joan Cox, Margaret Clarke and Val Mulcrone, Wrangaton, 75; 8, Stevie Foster, Sally Wing and Lorrainne Christie, Wrangaton, 74; 9, Sue Horsfield, Marion Sutton and Claire Waters, St Austell, 74.

There were ten twos.
On Tuesday July 10 the Rickeard Bowl and the monthly medal were played.
Winner of the Rickeard Bowl was Lyn Alderman and the runner-up was Trudi Luke.
Results of the medal were: Division 1, winner, Bridget Luckham Net 70, runner-up Jenny Hutchinson Net 73. Division 2, winner, Niki Combstock Net 96, runner-up Lyn Alderman Net 73.
On July 17 the rain came down and the Express and Echo Competition had to be abandoned.
On July 24 the Withington Bowl and an extra medal were played. The winner of the Withington Bowl was Peggy Burge and the runner-up was Penny Deakin.
Results of the medal were: Division 1, winner Penny Deakin, runner-up Karen Preston. Division 2, winner Peggy Burge, runner-up Gloria Westhead.
On July 31 the lady captain's team played the lady vice-captain's team. This was a tight match and the result was not decided until the last game, the lady captain's team being the overall winners.
