THE 2010 Dartmoor Pony Moorland Show was held at Princetown recently, and proved a great success.

The show organisers have paid tribute to the two judges for the day, Elaine Locke from Jacobstowe for the in hand classes and Jo Green who made the long journey from Witheridge for the children's ridden classes.

A spokesman for the show said: 'The classes were all well filled with lots of lovely pure bred Dartmoor ponies, everyone had an enjoyable day as the weather stayed dry.

'A wonderful commentary was given all day by Mrs Lisa Setter who kindly comes each year from Ivybridge with her family to help.'

Mr and Mrs Belcher made a worthwhile trip from Cornwall with their filly Hisley Precious Gift who took the two and three year old class then went on to take the youngstock championship over Mr and Mrs Brewington's Dural Rhapsody in Blue, she then finished with reserve supreme champion of the Day.

Diana Alford from near Okehampton also had a good day with her brood mare Cawsand Busy Bee, she won the brood mare class and followed this up with both the adult and supreme championship.

The children's classes were again very popular with an ideal ring for youngsters to start. Lizzie Houghton's mare Okeleat Mayqueen and young jockey William took the honours in the open ridden class and went on to take the ridden championship for the second year. Mrs Houghton then was delighted to find that she had won the John Coaker Memorial prize for the most points.

'It is lovely to see such a popular show continuing in the heart of the moor,' added the spokesman.
