CALSTOCK Regatta took place at the weekend and the weather was warm, but not hot, for participants and supporters alike.

The whole village green was bustling with stalls and attractions and there was a table top sale in the village hall in aid of the Shelterbox appeal. The starting was officiated by sponsor Keith Ingram on the Saturday and Sean Boyle on the Sunday.

More than 28 races on the Tamar were run over the two days with crews from Calstock, Saltash, Polperro, Trelawney (Redruth), Mousehole, Penryn and Pendennis (Helford/Falmouth) including some of the best rowers in Cornwall of all age groups.

On the Saturday noteable Calstock results were Rosie Bradley walking away with the U16s girls pair paddles and Beccy Ives was third.

The Calstock U18s girls crew of Lorna Murray, Rosie Bradley, Evie Reynolds, Daisy Roberts and Ben Bradley (cox) were second to Polperro to cement their second place in the championship.

In the ladies Cornish Randan two Calstock crews battled it out for third and fourth respectively. In boat 17, Leigh Anne Alford, Ley Roberts and Sue Ives beat the a crew of Pam Geggie, Sally Copson Ball and Rosie Greaves in boat 42.

Calstock were second in the men's Cornish Randan with a crew of Tom Ransome, Nick Bradley and Sam North.

On Sunday the Calstock senior mixed crew of Marcus Scoles, Conor Clark, Sally Copson Ball and Sue Ives finished fifth in their heat and Sam North was fifth in his men's paddles race.

In the senior mixed four oar, Polperro were triumphant with a fine burst of speed from the Calstock crew of Sam North, Ley Roberts, Leigh Anne Alford, Nick Bradley and Ben Bradley (cox) take second.

In the U14s boys paddles David Scoles was first and Willow Harman second put on a wonderful race for the Calstock supporters. Beccy Ives had a run away victory in the U14s girls pair race. The ladies four oar race saw Calstock's Ley Roberts, Sue Ives, Leigh Anne Alford, Sally Copson Ball and Ruby Roberts (cox in third with Hayley, Williams, Rosie Greaves, Lorna Murray , Daisy Roberts and Ben Bradley (cox) sixth.

Calstock U14s four oar crew Beccy Ives, Martha Roberts, Willow Harman, Grace Murray and Conor Clark (cox), were third with Calstock second crew of Kate Bradley, Scarlet Winter, Ben Bradley, Issie Edwards and Sam North (cox) fifth.

Medals and trophies were presented by the Rev Canon Andrew Wilson. The last regatta of the season is at Sibleyback Lake on August 14.
