THERE was a show ring event with a bit of a difference at Chagford Show last Thursday. Romance was definitely in the air as Sam Scott proposed to his girlfriend Elizabeth (Liz) Harris in front of the crowds who had gathered to see the prizegiving. Sam had arranged with one of the members of Chagford show committee for himself and Liz to be called into the show ring at the end of the prize giving, He had told Liz that they had won money in the raffle, and in front of most of the people of Chagford and the surrounding area, he proposed to Liz and handed her a little gift bag. Inside the bag was a beautiful ring and a little babygro with the words 'Will you marry my daddy?' emblazoned on the front. The couple, who live at Postbridge, are expecting their first child in October. It is the first time that an engagement has been announced in the show ring!
