A MEDICAL Detection Dogs ambassador is hosting a pop-up vintage tea room event in Sheepwash this weekend in a bid to raise money and awareness of the charity.
QVC presenter and Sheepwash resident Debbie Flint is hosting the event on Saturday and Sunday, February 18 and 19, in aid of the Medical Detection Dogs (MDD) charity, for which she is an ambassador.
So far she has helped to raise in the region of £25,000 for the charity to aid both sides of MDD — partner dogs who alert their owners to medical changes such as with Type 1 diabetes and also for the current official NHS research into using dogs for cancer detection in humans.
Debbie said: ‘Two of these amazing canines will be present at the event with their owners, plus a little trainee dog called Joan.
‘Come and talk to the owners and hear their stories, plus meet the MDD staff to find out how you could name a puppy after your school or organisation, or event your town, or just come along and have a tasty homemade cake and a cuppa.
‘On Sunday, the stars from Charlie Bears collectables in Launceston will be presenting a cheque to the charity having raised funds through the sale of a limited edition, mohair, collectable dog called Bones.’
The event will run on Saturday from noon to 4pm and on Sunday from 11am to 4pm at Retreats for You in Sheepwash (EX21 5NE).
MDD will also have a stall at the Sheepwash Village table top sale on the village hall from 10am to noon on Saturday.
