PREPARATIONS are gearing up for the annual Christian Aid week in Okehampton, when town supporters join thousands of others around the country raising money to help people throughout the world.

Christian Aid week runs from May 9 to May 15 and two events are being planned in Okehampton.

The first will be held on Wednesday May 12 at 7.30pm in Fairplace Church, when there will be a time of sharing stories, songs and thoughts about Christian Aid, which works to help the poorest people throughout the world.

The event is called Unsung Heroes and is a celebration of stories and songs, led by singer songwriter and Christian Aid worker Martin John Nicholls.

And there will be a street collection in the town on Saturday May 15, in which volunteers will be shaking their collecting tins to raise funds for the vital work of Christian Aid.
