A PONY had to be rescued after becoming trapped in a bog in Whitchurch on Sunday morning.

A fire crew from Tavistock and a specialist rescue team from Camels Head attended to free the pony just after 8.30am.

The crews used lines, water rescue equipment and animal rescue items.

Once freed, the pony was left in the care of a vet and the farmer.
