TWO ponies from a Dartmoor rescue centre had their five minutes of fame recently when they were filmed for ITV?s ?This Morning?. Star and Socks from the Dartmoor Pony Rescue Centre based at Bovey Tracey will be featured alongside animals from other sanctuaries to give people an insight into their work. DPRC, a voluntary organisation set up to take on Dartmoor ponies left unsold at annual pony markets, will be the only horse and pony rescue centre featured during the ten week series. A film crew and presenter spent two days with DPRC volunteers Natalie Torr and Kathryn Hulland, filming the two ponies being introduced into their new home at Bratton Clovelly. Their new owner contacted DPRC after she read two articles appealing for homes for rescue ponies in the Times earlier this year. She has a three acre field for the two ponies to graze in and also keeps goats. Natalie said: ?It was a special moment for us as Star and Socks are the first ponies of ours to be re-homed since we started the rescue centre last year. ?Mandy agreed to take two of our ponies on, which was good news for us as they are really good friends. ?I got a little bit emotional. The ponies though were completely ready, relaxed and calm little ponies. They took everything in their stride.? The ponies story will be featured on ITV?s ?This Morning? with Philip Schofield and Fern Britton next Thursday (October 12) at 10.30am.
