AN old pond has been given a new lease of life at Roadford Lake as regular volunteers Sophie Ramsay and James Denney assisted countryside wardens Kevin Pearson and Paul Lott to install a new liner.
The pond is situated in front of the bird hide at Roadford Lake's Gaddacombe Inlet and will hopefully provide a habitat for reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.
Paul Lott said: 'Ponds are a national priority habitat which provide a much needed home for specialist invertebrates, amphibians and reptiles.
'Our new pond could well provide a site for important water beetles, amphibians, small mammals and if so a perfect hunting ground for grass snakes and barn owls.'
Thanks to the help of people like Sophie and James, South West Lakes Trust can enhance the wildlife value of land surrounding the sites and contribute to an improved landscape.
There are a variety of ways in which people can become involved in conservation volunteering at the Lakes, meeting new people and learning new skills in a fantastic environment.
