A BY-ELECTION could be looming in Tavistock?s North ward, after 25 residents requested a poll following the resignation of Cllr Roy Connelly from Tavistock Town Council last month. Town clerk Col Roger Howard said notices have been published about the election ? anyone wishing to stand should make sure their nomination papers are submitted by noon on Friday June 24. The forms can be obtained from the town council offices in Drake Road or West Devon Borough Council?s offices at Kilworthy Park. Col Howard said: ?Providing more than one person submits their papers, the election will take place on July 21.? If an election takes place, residents in Tavistock?s North Ward will go to Tavistock Methodist Church to cast their vote. In the last town council by-election, the turn out was 19%.
