POLICE have this week issued a warning to householders be aware of security following a theft from a car in a low crime area.
Sgt Dave Anning said the victim on this occasion lived in the Buckland Monachorum area and made the error of not locking the vehicle overnight on Tuesday/Wednesday, January 14/15.
Police are appealing to people generally, but also to people who work in sensitive professions especially, to take better precautions.
Sgt Anning said: 'Of the thefts reported in recent weeks, at least two have involved the theft of either computers or documents with confidential information on them.
'In both cases the vehicles were left open because the owners live in safe areas and felt it was safe to do so.
'This latest offence has prompted officers to remind people who handle sensitive information that this series is ongoing — losing your goods is bad enough without losing your job as well.'
