AN appeal for information was this week issued following an incident in which a marked police car was deliberately rammed in West Devon. Two officers were slightly injured during the incident, which occurred on the old A30 near Dingles Steam Village at 10.45pm on Saturday. The officers, using blue flashing lights on their car, had stopped a white pick-up truck on the side of the road, intending to speak to the driver about a vehicle defect. As the officers got out of their car, the truck reversed at speed, ramming into the front of the police vehicle and causing minor injuries to the two policemen. The driver, whom police believe was accompanied by a woman with a child on her lap and another sat beside her, then made off at speed. A police spokesman said: ?The actions of the driver of the pick-up were very dangerous. ?Fortunately, the officers were not badly hurt, but the police vehicle could not be used, which reduced our ability to respond to emergency incidents in North Cornwall. ?The driver also risked the safety of the female and two children by crashing into the police car. ?Anyone who has information which could help us identify the vehicle and its driver are asked to contact the police. We believe the pick-up may have damage to the rear.? Police said the make of the truck was unknown but the last three letters of the registration number were believed to be FVC. Anyone who can help police with their enquiries should call 08452 777444 and quote ref 1516 of 17/06/06.
