POLICE are appealing for information following a hit and run incident near Whiddon Down during the early hours of Sunday morning. Police were called to the A382 just after midnight on Sunday, where they found a 22-year-old man with leg and torso injuries. The man, who had been walking towards Whiddon Down from Sandy Park, was taken to hospital by ambulance but later discharged. MPC Colin Taylor from Launceston Traffic Centre said: ?Thankfully, this man wasn?t seriously injured, but the driver of the car was not to know that and should have stopped at the scene. ?We found a nearside wing mirror at the scene and so we are appealing for any garage that is contacted by a driver needing a new wing mirror to contact us. ?A silver coloured Mercedes was seen near the scene and although it might not be involved, we would ask the driver to get in touch.? The Mercedes was seen driving towards the North Tawton or Sticklepath area. CCTV will also be be checked at the nearby service station to see if any damaged vehicles visited following the collision. Anyone with information about the incident or who saw the pedestrian prior to the accident should call police on 08452 777444 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting log 6 of 11.12.05.
