POLICE in Tavistock are appealing for witnesses after an allegation of racist abuse on the number 83 bus.

Police are investigating the incident on the bus, which was travelling from Plymouth to Tavistock on Tuesday, October 20.

During the journey it was alleged that a number of racist comments were shouted. It is thought the same individuals were responsible for threatening a woman when they began interfering with the bus's equipment.

Complaints were made by several passengers and some witnesses have already come forward but officers are asking others to do so.

Tavistock Police Sgt Dave Anning said: 'We have parts of the incident recorded. We need other witnesses to come forward to ensure we have a full and fair picture of what happened.'
